Full Moon Gratitude, June 2015

Happy Full Moon!

I have to admit June has been one of the most difficult months I’ve ever faced–mostly for personal reasons, though there have been plenty of professional challenges as well.

But tonight the moon is full, and I’ve always felt this phase of the moon is most appropriate for gratitude and celebration. And while June was incredibly painful, it was also incredibly beautiful. I have so much to be grateful for.

I’m grateful that I live in such a beautiful place. Even in the city, Oregon offers an abundance of natural beauty–flowers and green things everywhere I look, and there is always something vibrant and alive, whether it’s soggy midwinter or hot, dry summer.

I’m grateful for living so close to the park. When I went out for my walk this morning, the shade under the linden trees was cool and sweet. Though the ground is littered with fallen flowers, the trees are still full of teeny-tiny, sweet-smelling blossoms.

And I’m grateful for the pink honeysuckle spilling over the fence in one of North Portland’s quirky little alley ways.

I’m grateful for everyday magic, like this sweet little fairy house in the roots of a douglas fir at the local park.

I’m grateful for a supportive partner, and a supportive soon-to-be-mother-in-law, who’ve helped keep me going in sad and scary situations over the past several weeks.

And most of all, I’m grateful that when I marry my sweetheart in September, our marriage will be legally recognized in all 50 states. When we got engaged last year, we weren’t even sure we’d be able to do it in our home State. What a difference a year–and a supreme court ruling–can make!

What are you grateful for on this full moon?
